fax 69 involved connecting two fax machines together, each with its own unique telephone connection. Fax number one calls fax number two and commences sending a blank document to fax two. The resulting paper printout from the second fax is then eventually fed back into the first fax machine resulting in a closed information loop which runs partly via the public telephone exchange and partly via the physical paper printout
