Autotportrait (self immolation)

A 10 x 8 inch large format classical camera was loaded with colour sheet film and placed in front of a large mirror. The camera was doused with petrol and then ignited. The resulting photograph was produced and the negative film retrieved just seconds before the camera was totally destroyed. The operator is shown in the documentary photograph below holding the 10×8 inch film plate which contains the negative image and the remains of the camera that created the photograph.
