Cosmos

Cosmos is based on a recording of Albert Einstein explaining relativity theory (in German) that has been presented as a 12 inch vinyl recording and plays (in repeat mode) on a 1950s record player suspended on springs inside a spherical perspex enclosure in which a vacuum has been created. The recording is played via a small amplifier and speaker also suspended inside the sphere. Due to the presence of the vacuum no sound waves can travel through the void and therefore nothing can be heard by the viewer (or listener), the information is retained by the object which very slowly revolves within the circular table.
