The forms of optical disillusion take there reference both from the shape of the orbiting planets but are also a tongue in cheek reference to designer furniture (made in the 1950's. The main body is made from cheap plastic imitation wood. The weight and bulk of the TV is far too great for the thin insubstantial supporting structure. The title is a direct reflection on my feeling for the work when finished, as on looking at the construction I could not decide whether the work was very beautiful or absolutely ugly.
