Flat Field Flat Field

-lat Field was the first work with a television set and presented this idea simply by using a miniature TV set (black & white model) held within an aluminium carriage. This had a total of two movements, one turning the television around and the second rotating the television through its horizontal axis (longitude). These components are supported in a purpose built table with a square top. A laser disc supplies the pre-recorded video imagery via a small video sender (transmitting the signal to the TV) eliminating the need for an aerial connection, which may cause interference. The title Flat-Field was partly a reference to the notion that the earth was once believed to be flat (flat earth) and partly a reference to the screen which is comprised itself of a field (of electrons). Year of production 1991.
